2012 Catfish Derby
Moonlight Catfish Tournament - 2012 Results
On June 1st the Moonlight Catfish Tournament was held with the purpose of obtaining live spawning class catfish to be stoked into the Columbia park family fishing pond. 26 individuals began there quest with sunny skies and medium winds. Unfortunately wind and rain was forecast for the evening as an impending front entered the region. The rain began about 9 pm and participants took refuge under whatever they could. The morning saw clearing clouds and sunny but breezy conditions. Still allowing time to fish!
The Catch
The weigh in began at 9 am June 2nd and was set up with help from RRG&C club members and volunteers from the Walleye anglers unlimited club. Many hands were ready for the fish but no fish were brought to the scales until 1:00 pm with the cut off time at 2 pm. Only 5 returned to the scales with live fish. Total fish brought to scale 60 and included 37 live fish and 23 dead with a total weight of 335 pounds. The live fish were transported to the park pond with help from Doug and Dalton McManamon, Keith Sharp and Larry Martin.
